This seat is the same as the Britax Boulevard, with one additional feature: the Click & Safe Snug Harness Indicator. Basically, this is an audible click to indicate you have tightened the harness correctly. See our review of the Boulevard for more details about this seat in general.
The Pavillion G4 (G4 stands for fourth generation) is shipping as of this writing. However, you will probably still see third generation seats (known as 70-G3) on the market during the transition. What’s the difference between G3 and G4? To meet new federal safety standards, the new G4 seats will work only to 65 lbs. Second, Britax is improving the HUGS harness system with a new scallop design to better position the chest clip and keep kids from pushing it down. The G4’s also come with a new infant insert that must be used up to 22 lbs. And the G4’s have a new sewn in label to indicate the maximum shoulder height. Finally, the lock-offs and belt paths are now color coded.
Bottom line: the Pavilion is an excellent seat, if you can afford it.
