(Baby Bargains exclusive report) Baby Appleseed, known for their cribs sold in Buy Buy Baby is coming to Babies R Us with a new collection under the name “Eco-Chic Baby.”
Exclusive to BRU, Eco-Chic Baby cribs will retail for $600-$700. Two collections (Clover and Dorchester) will debut in late October in two colors (slate and hickory), with more collections arriving in February.
Like Baby Appleseed, Eco-Chic Baby will tout a Greenguard Gold certification, where products are third-party tested to be low in chemical emissions.
Eco-Chic Baby represents good timing for Baby Appleseed, with the Munire bankruptcy sending stores and buyers scrambling for alternatives. But at $600 to $700, Eco-Chic will be at the top end of the cribs offered by Babies R Us.
We recommend Baby Appleseed in our book and will take a close look at Eco-Chic when it hist the stores. We like the fact that toddler rail is included (another $100 or so purchase with some cribs). And the order time is another plus: four weeks on average with six to 10 weeks for “secondary” finishes.
If you’ve seen the furniture in stores, post what you think below!
“where products are third-party tested to be low in chemical emissions. ”
what exactly does that mean?!
so our babies will have only minimal chemical emissions?!
I will sticks with cribs and baby furniture that are certified with JPMA to be sure my baby doesn’t have to be subjected to these emissons.
Thank you
Hi Jennifer. Baby Appleseed cribs are JPMA certified. GreenGuard certification is explained here:

Hi Denise —
Are you familiar with the Mother Hubbard furniture line? A lady who was helping us at Buy Buy Baby said it was Greenguard Certified but it is not listed on their website. Thanks!!
Hi! Have you received any feedback on this line yet or has anyone purchased and used it yet? Thanks!
Hi! Anyone knows about new collections coming in February? Colors, styles etc? Thanks!
I just received this gift for my nursery. It is beautifully made and we receive a lot of compliments…however, toddler rails are NOT included and both eco-chic and babies r us claim to not have them in stock.
I saw your Dorchester Slate and think it is a nice product, but would like more detail about exactly what it offers that other companies don’t (other than the railings). A dresser, chest, changing table and crib if I purchase them will cost me over $2000. That is very steep for such a little one. I would consider it more closely if the price were more reasonable or even sold for a discount as a package, coupons, etc.
hi im looking for the clover hickory i dont found stock in babies ur s i need the phone to contact.
thanks
