Because Recaro has discontinued all its car seats amid a pullout from North America, we do not recommend purchasing this car seat.
Price: $182.
Type: Convertible seat.
Limits: Rear facing 5-40 lbs., forward facing 20-65 lbs.
NHTSA ease of use rating: Not yet.
Comments: Given the rough half decade Recaro has had with safety problems dogging their flagship convertible car seat (the ProRide), you could justifiably understand why this brand would need a fresh start. Enter the Recaro Roadster, the brand’s first new convertible car seat after all the hullabaloo with the ProRide.
The Roadster’s features side-impact protection, memory foam (for comfort) as well as Recaro’s “HERO” technology to prevent the harness straps from twisting. An infant insert allows newborns as little as five pounds.
Like the similar Performance Ride, the Roadster comes with one cup holder that awkwardly sticks out from the front of the seat.
As of May 2017, Recaro discontinued all its car seats, including this model. We do not recommend purchasing it.
