I’m terrified of this recall! Just because the crib I bought has a different finish, it’s not recalled? Can someone please explain to me/ reassure me that my baby’s crib is still safe!

I have the Olympia Lifetime crib in Natural. The model number is the same on the list minus the “-N” after the number. I filled out the recall form because our crib was manufactured on 6/06. I am going to call Jardine tomorrow because I want a new crib voucher. I am due in 2.5 months and need to ensure my baby’s safety.

I called CPSC right now and the Jardine hotline.
Neither one offered ANY explanation about why one color and not the other or what is SOOOO safe about the Americana model (my model) that make it the ONLY crib they sell not yet recalled at least partially.
In fact, the CSPC agent totally passed the buck trying to tell me the CSPC has no say as to which products get recalled. Um, yeah.

Jardine didn’t tell me why the natural finish wasn’t recalled as well. I just got some story about how each batch is different and I “should” be safe. I am about to go test the crib out myself and see if has any give, at all.

I’ve got a Madison ( the one with the “headboard” back) & to my knowledge that hasn’t been recalled either. Well, Yet. That last huge recall was about 2 months before I was supposed to give birth, and we lucked out that the Madison, which we had to order b/c the white olympia wasn’t available, wasn’t on the list.
But jardine – get it together! If you back track to that recall they did a lot of “buck passing”, well, them, BRU, TRU…it was ridiculous.
Sigh. the best I can do is just continue to check the rails everyday. Best of luck to everyone in this latest mess.

I just received the packet to send in the bolts and label. On the form it says you can just take a picture of the label, instead of mailing them in. So, if you know someone who can get you the picture, you can mail in your bolts with it.

We just found out about this day . . . glad we happened to stop in BRU, seeing as we’ve heard NOTHING about this in the news.
Here’s a question, maybe someone out there has an answer . . . The press release says we’ll get a voucher towards the purchase of a new crib. At BRU, the posting said a voucher for a new *Jardine* crib. Given the inconsistency, anyone know which version is correct? At this point, I have zero confidence in the brand and don’t want another Jardine product.

I’m still waiting for my package to come in….what’s this about the bolts? What is my child supposed to sleep in if I have to remove the bolts off the crib???
And there’s no way in hades I am getting another Jardine crib. Forget them!!

Thank you so much for posting this. We have the Olympia crib, purchased in May 2006. We used it for our son, whom we moved into a twin bed at 15 months because we were expecting his little sister. She’s currently 6.5 months and still using the crib.
This is the ONLY place I have seen about this crib recall. I feel fortunate to have found it and be able to do something about it before our daughter got big enough to have this be an issue. Because we don’t plan to have more children, she may stay in her crib longer and this would be much more of a concern.

I also have concerns about my crib. I have the olympia lifetime crib in the black finish. I have had to have Jardine replace one part on my crib because the slats just seemed so week and one had a crack in it. The new part they sent me does not have a crack but they are still not very sturdy. So I would like to know why the only crib to be recalled was the dark pine. I guess and it is a guess but they must have sold more of thoes adn people have called and complained more about them. So maybe when they get enough complaints about the other finishes they will recall them too. I hope it does happen soon my son can push on the slats and they bow out a bit. I don’t think he is strong enough YET to break them but i feel he may one day be able too. And at this point in time I don’t have the extra money to go out and replace a crib that the company should be replacing at their cost.

We have a black Olympia as well and are concerned with its safety. I was told by an associate at BRU that the reason for the recall in certain finishes was due to the origin of manufacture (i.e. the dark pine Olympia was made in a different country than the black Olympia). Apparently, there were issues with the manufacturing site where the dark pine Olympia was made (Country A) whereas those issues didn’t occur where the black Olympia was made (Country B). Not sure I buy that there still won’t be issues with ones currently not on the recall list.

I have the natural wood crib, they told me the reason they were not recalled is because they were made in different factory’s and that only the dark pine and white were recalled. This crib has done amazing for us!
