Readers Anne and Dan M. write in today with a rather scary experience with a Kids II Baby Einstein toy:
We got the Kids II Baby Einstein Baby Neptune Ocean Adventure Gym as a gift. It was purchased at Babies R Us. Upon putting the batteries in the aquarium unit the music was not playing right and lots of static was coming out. When I removed the batteries all three batteries were hot to the touch and one had begun to melt. Kids II picked up the defective unit today and sent a replacement. They said they need to analyze the defective unit to see what happened.
There must be some manufacturing defect. How much does it cost?

I bought the same play mat, but I haven’t noticed any problems with the batteries. I hope it was just that one. Maybe the person who put it together was a little cloudy headed that day. 😉
