While we love getting emails telling us how brilliant our book is, we find it most helpful when folks tell us where we got it wrong. Here is Julie L.’s comments on two products where she thought we missed the mark:
I wanted to write regarding a couple of products I purchased based on reviews in your book. Although, many of the reviews were very helpful, the following two purchases were very disappointing.
First, I purchased the Majestic baby furniture by Munire based on reviews that it was a good quality for the value. I am most disappointed in my purchase for the following reasons.
1) It is extremely difficult to adjust the height of the crib. You essentially need to dismantle the entire crib.
2) There was not a protective finish on the crib or the dresser, making them very prone to scratch quite easily; especially the dresser which we use as a changing table.
3) The recent safety recall on the support brackets.
Second, I purchased the Inglesina Zippy stroller. I feel that the stroller is very overpriced for what it has to offer. It is less compact than other strollers of a similar style, has very limited storage space underneath, has an extremely small and akward cup holder, and the sun shade is also an akward size and shape and does not fully shade the child in the stroller.
In general, I enjoyed your book, but these are two products I would not buy again.
Just wanted to say that I somewhat disagree with the comments made about the Zippy stroller. While yes, it is a bit bulky, the ease of folding and its ability to recline far outweighs its size. As for the cup-holder, the book warns of that and the website shows it, so there was no surprise there (fortunately I don’t really need one). We took this on vacation and our 8 month old baby was able to sleep in it while we were sight-seeing; because it stands upright when folded, it was easy to park it next to our table at restaurants. So far, this is one of many purchases I’ve made based on advice from the book that I adore.

I also bought the Zippy and love it. The sun shade is perfect, my 8 month old is shaded all the time. It was a bit awkward when she was smaller and more reclined, but it’s still one of the best on the market. The under basket isn’t great, but so few are. I’m not using it as a shopping cart anyhow, I limit what goes down there and stay organized.
Our local baby store discontinued the Zippy and when I asked, the manager said the name just isn’t prominent enough to sell. I said that I compared it to the Peg Perego and Maclerons’ and felt it was superior – she agreed and said it was just as good if not better. Unfortunately the brand didn’t have the recognition to make people want it.
I love the one handed folding and the upright stance. Another great feature is the rain cover pocket on the top. I use it for car keys, sunglasses, etc. Very nice to have a little stow away stash there.

as the number of multiple births goes up, I wish you had more info for moms of twins (and more) espec in the double stroller ordeal–there just isn’t a lot of info/charts to help us moms of more than one–plus, I’m sure that people with more than one kid (even of different ages) would find it helpful–If I was buying a single stroller, I think you guys outdid yourselves, but with a double I’m having to do a ton of research on my own… thanks

I checked out the Zippy at a local store. It definitely a one hand fold and overall is a good stroller, however, it is completely plastic and very overpriced compared to other models out there. Definitely not worth the value but it is a good stroller.
