While sister brand Cosco sells bare-bones high chairs to the discount chains, Safety 1st focuses on a slightly more upscale market. Example: Safety 1st’s AdapTable High Chair ($65, pictured) has all the standard features you’d expect in a high chair (machine-washable cushion, three position recline, six height adjustments, one-hand tray release with dishwasher safe insert) plus an ultra-compact, standing fold.
Safety 1st’s newest high chair option is the Dine and Recline High Chair. This base of this chair is wood, while the seat and tray are plastic. As a result, you can recline the seat (which is unusual for wood high chairs). It also comes with a padded seat cushion, dishwasher safe tray and five point harness. The anti-submarining bar attaches to the tray. Price: $130.
FYI: As of June, 2018, The Dine and Recline appears to be discontinued.
Overall, the quality of Safety 1st’s high chairs is only average and we’ve been disappointed in a recent high chair recall. Rating: C+
