Baby Trend, the California baby gear company best known for its Snap N Go stroller frame, filed for bankruptcy reorganization earlier this month.
As we predicted back in July, Baby Trend's bankruptcy was triggered by losing a lawsuit to former employee Rob Gardner. Gardner sued Baby Trend for back pay and royalties owed him for the Sit N Stand stroller and won a $8.4 million judgement. Since the court found Baby Trend committed fraud in the case, it isn't clear the company can escape paying the judgement in bankruptcy.
Since the company filed for reorganization, it continues to ship and service its products. There is speculation that Baby Trend's owners plan to revive the company under another name. We'll keep you posted.
