Best Hook-on Chair 2024
Best Hook-on Chair 2024
Last Updated: The Best Hook-on Chair 2024. The Chicco Caddy ($49.99 ) is our top pick as the best hook-on chair for travel and restaurants. We love the compact fold, three point harness and “quick grip” table clamps. The seat pad can be removed, although some parents note it can be difficult to remove the first few time, and it is machine washable. .
Like most hook-on chairs, the Caddy only has a three-point harness. Because of this, some parents complain it’s too easy for active kids to stand up even with the harness latched, so keep an eye on your child when using this or any other hook-chair.
Similar but with more bells and whistles is the Chicco 360 Hook On. The 360’s seat rotates so you can more easily put your child in or take her out and comes with a tray. While parents like the rotating seat, some have complained this seat is harder to clean than the Caddy.
FYI: We don’t recommend a hook-on chair as replacement for a high chair, although we sympathize with parents working with limited space that choose this option. Hook-on chairs are best when visiting friends and family or eating at a restaurant. If you are looking for a full-feature high chair that can be attached to a dining room chair, consider the Fisher-Price Space Saver reviewed in our section on high chairs.

Inglesina Fast Table Chair with Tray
The Inglesina Fast Table has a sewn on carry bag so you can’t lose it plus a tray to keep the food off restaurant table tops.
Inglesina Fast Table Chair. Although it’s quite a bit more expensive than the Chicco Caddy, we think the Inglesina Fast Table Chair with tray ($98.00 ), is an excellent second choice. It has a quick flat-fold for travel, a small storage pocket in the back and the cover is removable and hand-washable.
A neat trick: the carry back is sewn to the bottom of the seat so you can never lose it. Parent feedback is excellent.
Why Trust Us
We’ve been rating and reviewing kitchen hook-on chairs and booster seats since 2005. In addition to hands on testing on a variety of surfaces and table styles, we have combed the research about reliability, cleanability and safety. We also evaluate consumer reviews posted on sites like Amazon, as well as our own message boards.
Here’s another key point: we don’t take money from the brands we review. No free samples, no sponsors, no “partnerships.” Baby Bargains is your independent and unbiased source for expert baby gear reviews. We’ve been writing and reviewing baby gear since 1994. Yes, that long!
How we picked a winner
We evaluate hook-on chairs with in-depth inspections, checking models for overall quality and ease of use—for example, testing in rooms of different size. We also gather significant reader feedback (our book, Baby Bargains has over 1 million copies in print), tracking hook-on chairs for quality and durability. Besides interviewing parents, we also regularly talk with retailers and consumer appliance experts to see which brands are most trustworthy and other key quality metrics.

Why don’t you recommend hook on chairs as a replacement for a stand alone high chair?
Hi Tessa! Good point—you could do that! Assuming you have a compatible tale, that should work. The only caveat is your baby might outgrow the hook-on chair before they would a regular high chair, as the former has smaller seats than the latter! But if you have a baby on the small side, it could work!
