Fisher Price has a winner here: we liked the snap-off feeding tray that can go into the dishwasher, easy fold and shoulder strap for road trips plus three different height settings. When your child gets older, the tray removes so the seat becomes a basic booster.

The only caveat: the back does not recline, so your baby must be able to sit up on his own to use it safely. (No biggie for most older babies, but we know some folks consider these boosters as high-chair replacements—not a good idea unless your child can sit upright).

There is also a version of this booster called the Deluxe— it comes with a removable tray insert for a few bucks more.

So is it worth the upgrade? It’s true we like tray inserts on full size high chairs and recommend them—the main tray often doesn’t fit in a dishwasher, but the tray insert does making cleanup easier. But the basic Healthy Care Booster’s tray can go into the dishwasher (it’s pretty small), so an insert isn’t as necessary.

That said, we’ve noticed sometimes the price for the deluxe dips BELOW that of the regular version—so in that case, go for the Deluxe. We also noticed Amazon has an “exclusive” version that includes a tray insert and snap-on tray lid. That may be a better deal than either version, depending on price fluctuations.
