How can you tell which version you have? Check the copyright page (page ii); the version number is located at the BOTTOM of the copyright page!
Baby Bargains was first published in 1994 (peach cover). Yeah, we know . . . before Google, before Facebook. When dinosaurs roamed the earth.
We strive to keep the Baby Bargains as up-to-date as possible. As such, we update it periodically with new editions. But if you just borrowed this book from a friend, how do you know how old it is? First, look at the copyright page. There at the bottom you will see a version number (example: 10.0). The first number (the 10 in this case) means you have the 10th edition. The second number indicates the printing-every time we reprint the book, we make minor corrections, additions and changes. Version 10.0 is the initial printing of the 10th edition, version 10.1 is the first reprint of the 10th edition and so on.
We update this book with a new edition every two years (roughly). About 30% to 40% of the content will change with each edition. Bottom line: if you pick up a copy of this book that is one or two editions old, you will notice a significant number of changes.

Hi – just bought the 12th edition. My first child was born in 2008, so we bought the 7th edition at the time. I noticed right away the new edition is almost 1/4 the thickness of the older one! Can you explain why? Just curious – that much less to comment on, or just more efficient with experience writing these books???

Yes, the latest book is about half the size of the 2008. We streamlined the book after feedback from our readers—we focus now more on specific picks by lifestyle and have more categories of recommendations than back in 2008. The goal was to make the book a quicker read, while still giving detailed recommendations.
What made the book so large in the past were a large number of reviews (40 crib brands, 25 convertible car seats, etc). While folks liked that, over time we found fewer people wanting to sift through reviews of small crib makers and so on. We moved those to our free web site, so if folks want to look up a brand they can.

Hi .. I m having a 6 month old baby.. My friend suggested me this book. Is this book specifically for new born? Would this book useful at this stage?

Well, even if you adopt a baby that is 6 months old, there is much to find in our book—you’ll need a place for baby to sleep (crib), high chair for feeding, convertible car seat and more. So it’s not just newborns, but the entire birth to age 2 spectrum! Best wishes!
