Yep, as soon as we go to press, something always changes! Here’s a quick run-down of the latest corrections and updates:

• SWINGS: After we complained about a lack of plug-in (A/C powered) swings, alert readers told us Fisher Price has just debuted The Power Plus swing . . . which as the name implies, plugs in to save on batteries!

• BEDDING: In the bedding chapter, a reader points out that Glenna Jean’s bumper ties are on the top and bottom—BUT only on the CORNERS of the bumper. The rest of the bumper just has top ties.

• CAR SEATS: On page 415 (car seats), we have a picture of the Evenflo Titan. This picture is for the Deluxe, not the regular version (as implied by the text).

• CRIBS: In the crib chapter, we mistakenly said the Munire Majestic collection is made of pine. Majestic is actually made of mahogany and agathis hardwood When it was made in Mexico, Majestic was made of poplar hardwood. Munire also has a new phone number: (732) 339-6070.

• STROLLERS: We listed the weight for the Mutsy Urban Rider as 35 lbs—it actually is 25.4 lbs. We apologize for the confusion.

• CRIBS: We incorrectly listed Child Craft’s address as Salem, IN. Actually they are now in New Salisbury, IN (1010 Keller Drive NE, New Salisbury, IN 47161-0335. 812-206-2200). Also: Child Craft owns its own factory in Honduras and no longer imports from Europe. CC also imports from China. Child Craft also has stopped using the "safety bump" on its drawer glides, as we described in the dresser section, expalining that "since we make furniture to go from baby through teen and adult, the bump isn’t desireable on teen and adult furniture."

• CAR SEATS: A reader points out that the weight for the Peg Perego SIP infant seat is 10 pounds. We list 8 pounds in the book. We will try to confirm the correct weight shortly!

• CRIBS: IKEA’s web site now lists the DIKTAD crib as discontinued.

• REGISTRY: On page 564, we describe the Child Craft Shaker Ridge crib as a drop-side model—it is actually STATIONARY. This is correct in the crib chapter.

• AROUND THE HOUSE: On page 353, we mention that we have a discussion  of portable playpen sheets in Chapter 3 (bedding). While we review sheets from brands like Mr. Bobbles in that chapter, we don’t have a separate discussion of that topic there. Apologies!

• CAR SEATS: Before we went to press, Consumer Reports had said they were withdrawing their car seat report because of faulty side impact data. Since CR stood behind the rest of their crash tests, we used the REMAINDER the report in our car seat ratings. However, in the past month, CR is indicated their ENTIRE report was faulty and they are re-testing the infant car seats. That info should be available shortly. As a result, we may revise our ratings of infant car seats based on the CR tests. We apologize for any confusion on this! We will blog on this event as it happens!

• STROLLERS: On page 494, we state that Graco has never had a stroller recall. That’s incorrect. We omitted mention of the 2005 Graco Metrolite recall. We still think Graco’s overall safety record is among the best in the category, however.

• STROLLERS: On page 492, we recommend the Graco Metrolite. Later on page 516 we also recommend the Graco Metrolite travel system, but warn about all travel system strollers and their low quality. We realize this is a contradiction. To clarify—we DO like the Graco Metrolite and recommend it both as a single stroller and part of the travel system. However, overall, we aren’t wild about most OTHER travel systems, due to quality concerns.

Ok, that’s it for now!
