This company is no longer in business. Below is an archived review. We still see some Argington cribs online, as a few sites are still selling off their inventory. We do not recommend buying a crib or nursery furniture from a company that is no longer in business since there is no source for spare parts or customer service if there is a future issue.
Argington puts a green spin on their modern furniture: New York-based designers Andrew Thornton and Jenny Argie strive to use only solid wood (“virtually no MDF, particle board other similar engineered wood products.”) All Argington’s wood is FSC certified as part of its “sustainable manufacturing” (glues are low-emission, etc). The brand’s main crib offering is the two-toned Sahara for $500 with matching dresser for $550.
The Bam Bam Collection (pictured) is Argington’s value offering—it starts as a bassinet that converts to a crib for $450 (conversion kit included). A matching dresser is $550 to $700.
New in the past year, Argington rolled out a bunk bed (the Brookline; $950) that can be purchased first as a twin bed ($470) and later converted to a bunk ($90 for the kit).
Argington also offers a limited selection of organic cotton crib bedding ($185 for a set) that can be bought as separates.
As for quality and customer service, to say Argington’s customer reviews on Amazon have been mixed would be charitable. More than one customer has complained of late arriving orders, customer service snafus and more. While backordered items can be a problem with many companies today, Argington needs to improve its customer service to better communicate with customers when a problem happens.
Quality is OK—one reader compared it with IKEA, albeit at a higher price. It’s hard to find modern nursery furniture under $1000, so Argington has done a good job with value. We’ve noticed Argington’s prices have actually declined about 10% in the past year, a welcome sign. Rating: Not recommended
