Evolur is owned by Dream on Me, best known for their mini cribs and crib mattresses. Evolur marks a bit of a departure for the affordable Dream on Me brand, as it is a stand-alone nursery furniture brand in the upper-middle price point. (Dream on Me focuses on entry-level price point
Evolur’s team includes former Munire executives; hence, you’ll note the design style here is clearly influenced by Munire’s more adult looking nursery furniture. What do we mean by adult? Well, you’ll see little flourishes like this on the headboard:
Beyond the standard brown and white finishes, Evolur offers several gradations of grey as well as a two-tone grey and white option.
All in all, Evolur offers 12 cribs and nine dresser groupings. The most affordable crib (Windsor) runs $400, while most other styles are in the $450 to $700 range. Dressers run $500 to $700. Evolur is made in Vietnam.
Evolur is still relatively new, so there isn’t much real world feedback yet. We did preview some samples and thought they looked good—the dressers feature full extension drawer glides, corner blocks, dovetail joints and deeper drawers on the bottom. The cribs and dressers are made of poplar and rubberwood, which is common in this price point.
In the past month, we’ve heard from a retailer who said Evolur has done a good job with deliveries, with very few damage or quality issues. So far so good.
One critical note: we weren’t thrilled to see upholstery on the inside of some crib styles, including the Julienne. That would be a nightmare to clean.
We’re initiating our rating of this company as a B—good quality and design. Rating: B
i’m seriously considering purchasing the Evolur Hampton crib. but I just heard that it’s being discontinued. Is this a bad sign?
Not really—crib models come and go, based on sales and changing tastes. Just because a crib is being discontinued doesn’t mean it is unsafe. Crib makers come out with new styles all the time, so some older ones get discontinued to make way for new stuff!
We had purchased Evolur Windsor convertible crib for our daughter. It’s very nice and well made crib. It’s worth buying. We are happy with it.
Hello! I love your book, it has been so helpful to me as a first time mom to be, thank you for creating it!. Choosing a crib has been extremely stressful for me as I want what is best and safest for my baby. I really like the Evolur Hampton, but I notice that it is not Green Guard certified. What is your take on this not being certified? I am interested to learn why some of the less expensive brands have this certification and this brand does not. It is the one reason I am considering a DaVinci or Babyletto instead, but then I question their products too. Any advice would be appreciated!
Hi Vanessa: Thanks for reading our book, BABY BARGAINS. We appreciate the kind words. As for cribs, GREENGUARD certification is nice but not necessary. I would say most cribs today would meet the low-emission standard; GREENGUARD is just way to certify it. Indoor air quality is a serious issue and new furniture/carpet/paint should always be aired out (that is, an open window in the baby’s room) before baby arrives. FYI: The issue here more often with off-gassing furniture are dressers, not cribs. They use more glue, engineered wood, etc. And a lot of factors go into the risk factor—newer homes with tight insulation and windows have more indoor air issues than older homes.
Bottom line: that Evolur crib is one we’d recommend. And we like DaVinci as well if you prefer that direction for budget reasons.
I purchased the Evolur aurora crib from buy buy baby. On 8/29/22. The crib came with no hardware. I contacted customer service twice as you can not call and must go through email. They told me that they could not send me the hardware without charging me as I did not have the original receipt. I sent pictures of the box and product which clearly can not be stolen. It’s huge. As well as the date and lace I purchased it from. As well as offered to show bank record that it was purchased on this date. Nope. They pretty much gave me an f you. So I strongly strongly recommend staying away from this company. I will certainly never deal with them again. I regret purchasing from them to begin with.
