Los Angeles-based Muu joins the crowded modern furniture market with an eco-spin: it’s furniture is made in the U.S. (by El Greco) and features locally-sourced hardwood and “MDF from certified environmentally friendly recycled wood fibers.” Style-wise, Muu’s cribs add a bit of design whimsy with interchangeable fabric panels that give their furniture a bit of Zen-like bling. Prices range from $800 for a basic crib to $1175 for the aforementioned panel crib, available in a series of designs and colors. Feedback on Muu has been rather sparse, as it is sold in just a handful of boutiques (as well as their own web site). But we will give them bonus points for creative design. And with prices about 20% to 30% below that of other modern crib makers, Muu is a good alternative for those parents seeking to combine both modern aesthetics and a made-in-the-U.S. label. Rating: B
