New Energy (NE) Kids is a Virginia-based importer of bunk beds as well as loft beds and captain’s beds. They recently added nursery furniture to their line. At present, they offer two crib styles (Richmond and Charleston, pictured), which are available in four finishes. Prices start at $450 for a crib and $500 for a dresser. On the plus side, each crib includes a toddler rail (which is usually an extra expense). On the other hand, NE Kids has only average quality; perhaps the biggest issue with this line is back orders. Some pieces go on back order for a long time—and then are discontinued. Rating: C+
