Comments: The Evenflo Maestro has a five-point harness that can be used up to 50 pounds. After a child outgrows the harness, the Maestro becomes a belt-positioning booster up to 100 lbs.
The Maestro has performed better than Evenflo’s other boosters, which are showing their age. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the seat a Best Bet rating and it earned four out of five stars for ease of use. Reader feedback has been mostly positive. Fans cite the LATCH attachments, upfront harness adjustment and two crotch positions. Critics note the harness must be re-threaded when you need to change the height and you have to disassemble the seat to clean the pad.
Bottom line: this is a better effort than Evenflo’s other boosters and it is affordable . . . but the relatively skimpy 50 pound harness limit is a trade-off.
