British manufacturer Mamas and Papas is like the Graco of the UK. Now the company has landed on this side of the Atlantic, with a collection of strollers, bouncers and two high chair models.
Mamas and Papas most popular high chair is the Juice ($125 to $150, pictured), which has a 2-in-1 pitch: the high chair’s legs pop off and it becomes a little chair for toddlers. The seat pad is molded foam and the design is sleek and modern. Parents note it is fairly easy to clean although the tray is pretty far away, meaning spills in baby’s lap.
The Pixi is lighter, more compact option from Mamas and Papas.
A second offering, the Pixi ($150) features an impressive compact fold, an extra removable tray and storage for the tray. It’s low height means you can pull this high chair up to the table. Again the Pixi’s tray is too far away, so expect lots of food in baby’s lap. This seat might be best for Grandma’s house although at $120, you can find a cheaper basic alternative.
Feedback on the Juice is mostly quite positive although slim babies have a hard time keeping the harness straps on, while parents complain a bit about the cleanability of both chairs. The Pixi has lots of nooks and crannies for food to get stuck and the pad on the Juice allows food to get stuck underneath the seat.
Overall, readers tell us Mamas and Papas high chairs are winners. Our biggest beef is the trays, which are too far away from baby. That holds down their overall grade.
