Part of the Delta crib company, these Simmons Kids mattresses are sold under several names: but the bulk seem to be BeautyRest and BeautySleep models. They have a wide range of both coil and foam models.
The most popular mattress from Simmons is the Beautyrest Beginnings Sleepy Whispers Ultra Deluxe 2 in 1 Crib and Toddler Mattress (pictured). Whew! Let’s just call it Sleepy Whispers for brevity’s sake. This coil mattress has 231 pocketed coil springs, extra corner support, 100% cotton fire protection (no chemicals used to make it fire resistant), and it’s GREENGUARD certified. This mattress retails for $140, although online it sells for as little as $123.
If you’re looking for a foam mattress, the Beautyrest Studio Grand Dreams Infant & Toddler mattress sells for $80 to $100. It comes with an eco-friendly organic blend cover that has a medical grade waterproof backing. It is GREENGUARD certified as well. We’re impressed with a mattress at this price level that has this certification.
Mattresses under the BeautySleep name include the Sleepy Whispers mattresses. The foam version, $130, uses an all-cotton fire protection rap and hypo-allergenic waterproof vinyl cover. The Sleepy Whispers Supreme is a 234 coil mattress with dual firmness for infant and toddler, “Innofoam” core, reinforced edges and the cotton fire protection as well. For $152, this is a reasonably-priced coil mattress.
Overall feedback on this brand is mixed—the low-end mattresses (under $100) are often knocked for poor quality, but the more expensive units get better marks. Complaints included seams that ripped and mattresses that arrived dirty or damaged.
Bottom line: there are better bets out there than Simmons. Rating: C+
