More reader feedback on the BRU/Amazon
registry:

Well
you were right! Unfortunately I did not take your advice and I registered at
babies r us and online through amazon/babiesrus and it has been a nightmare!
First of all, the store and amazon can’t
coordinate the lists which means multiple duplicate gifts. Second is that
everyday there is a different item that amazon no longer has in stock, And these
aren’t baby bibs. These are items like car seats which I need!!! Also, and as
you said, the sales assistants at babies r us are completely useless and have no
idea what they are talking about. The entire experience has been very
frustrating and disappointing. I would really suggest that new moms register
somewhere else-not at the babies r us store and certainly not through
amazon.

I just had my baby shower this weekend. I registered at BRU due to convenience (several stores are near where I live and many of my guests live).
I received several duplicate items, which we all know can happen if the person purchasing doesn’t bring registry info to cashier.
HOWEVER, all 4 purchasers not only had my registry scanned at the cashier, but they also gave me gift receipts that CLEARLY show my registry number on the receipts. Yet when you pull up my registry I see only 1 High chair purchased, only 1 travel system purchased, not 2 each that I received.
Now at 8 months pregnant I have to haul back a high chair and a travel system back to BRU to return them and purchase other items I am still missing (items that these people may have purchased instead if the registry had not been mismanaged by BRU). What a nightmare this would be for people who don’t have a local store and have to SHIP returns.
Let’s not even mention the disappointment in my guests’ faces when they saw their very generous gifts had been duplicated as I sat there opening presents in front of 50 people!
I plan to raise a stink at BRU, but what will they do? Say sorry for the inconvenience? I can only hope for a lousy coupon at best.
Where I live Buy Buy Baby has one store. I plan to advise my friends to register there instead.
