Million Dollar Baby, says reader Erika S. who writes in today:
I have been looking at the new baby mod line at Walmart (I think they launched it Spring 2007) as a less expensive alternative for nursery furniture with modern lines.
I had a sneaking suspicion that this is the same as Million Dollar Baby/DaVinci (see the Kristen crib–right–on dreamtimebaby.com and the Roxanne crib–below–at walmart.com. So I called the customer service department for MDB to find out. The customer service representative confirmed that baby mod at Walmart is distributed by MDB.
You probably know this already, but I couldn’t find it on the updates on your site.
Thanks Erika—you are right . . . even though Wal-Mart is careful to omit any mention of Million Dollar Baby from their site, the Baby Mod cribs are made by MDB. We realize this has been discussed on other sites this summer, but we just wanted to pass along this tip since it hasn’t appeared in our book yet.
Thank you for this information; I just discovered the new Baby Mod ParkLane crib and was about to begin research on the manufacturer. You answered my question before I had to do anything!

I discovered this rather recently, so I think it’s making the rounds on the web.
I have the Roxanne crib from Wal-Mart and love the way it looks. (Altho, I’m not due until the end of the year…) Please don’t let the customer complaints in the review section dissuade you. The crib is not as difficult to put together as they would like for you to think.
Also, the crib comes in a box clearly marked that it’s made by Million Dollar Baby…of course, you’d have to order it to know that. 🙂

Please know that we purchased the Kristen crib from babyuniverse.com and within the first 7 months, the drop-down side fell off. This crib is poorly constructed and unsafe. We have filed a complaint with the CPSC and they are opening an investigation.

Karen,
What ever became of your filed complaint? I agree not a solid crib.
