I think it is safe to avoid products made in China for the meantime, not until their government is able to pass laws calling for stricter quality control. It seems to me that the testing happens after the products leave the manufacturer, rather than before.

I am speechless that this company has had to recall its cribs 3 times in the past year!!!! I’m so glad that they refused to sell me the crib the first time b/c of the recall (even though it hadn’t officially been recalled) and that I didn’t buy another Jardine.

I have a Jardine crib model # DA616BN. It was purchased from BRU in early 2004. My 12 month old son is using is now. It has not been recalled, but the slats look exactly the same as the ones being recalled. How can I be sure it is safe? If it was recalled, I’d get a voucher for a new crib. Without the recall, I get nothing and my husband got laid off last month, so I don’t have the extra money right now.

Jardine should be ashamed. The recall instructions require you to send the company the bolts and mattress supports, and then, after they receive those, they’ll send you a voucher in 2 weeks. So no crib for two weeks at least! Ridiculous!

This soooo makes me mad. I was part of the first recall jardine had last year. My son could still sleep in the co sleeper so the 7 week wait for our refund check wasn’t to bad. We ended up purchasing another Jardine due to lack of another crib for the same price. It was either pay hundreds more or get something super cheap. They assured us that they were all tested now and super safe. Well here we are again, just found out on my own. Can’t believe they don’t send out a letter or something. It is such a pain to take down and put up a crib. Now for the third time. This is ridiculous. I just want my money not a rebate for another crappy crib.

Our crib was part of this third recall. I understood that vouchers had to be used in-store only in the prior recalls. They must have wised up and made some changes. Although it is not mentioned in the Jardine instructions on disassembling the crib, you ARE able to:
1. Purchase your crib BEFORE receiving your voucher. Pay out of pocket up front and then take your voucher to BRU to receive a refund.
2. Purchase a crib ONLINE. Pay out of pocket online and then take your voucher to a BRU store along with the packing slip.
I called BOTH Jardine and BRU to confirm I was able to do both #1 and #2 before making my purchase. I purchased my crib online, received my voucher a week later, took my voucher & packing slip to BRU and received my credit.
It’s frustrating that they don’t advertise these options to help us out with THEIR mistake!!

We asked at Babies R Us and they told us we could only buy in store….of course they a) had very few cribs for under $350.00 and the voucher is less than that and b) the two cribs we did like they were completely sold out. So we are getting a crib we don’t exactly want. This was after visiting 3 total Toys R Us/Babies R Us stores (two of which were an hour away). And to top it all off they said to expect the crib in 10-12 weeks! We didn’t have a pack and play to begin with ($100 out of our pockets) so we bought that and are glad we did since in the end our son will have been without a crib for 4+ months. I wish I would have just bought a different crib and eaten the cost. At least I would have actually gotten what I wanted and not had to deal with this whole mess and known my child was safe! I’m never buying furniture from Babies R Us again.

Submitted to the Attorney General’s office by myself:
I have a Jardine Enterprise Baby Crib that I purchased in 2007 from babies R Us. One of the slat/spindles broke on the crib and my son almost strangled himself. He went through the hole but his head wouldn’t fit and he was hanging from the crib leaving him bruises and red marks all around his neck from struggling. when I walked in after hearing his cries.(I took pictures of the crib and what happened) This is the model number BC-36G Drop Side Sage Spindle Crib 7/2007. I contacted the manufacturer and they said they are offering vouchers for a replacement crib only at Babies R Us after you send in all the hardware from the crib, paperwork and sign some type of agreement etc. In the meantime I asked the manufacturer where does my son sleep in the meantime they said I can go purchase a new crib only from babies r us and once I send in all the required hardware, labels and paperwork they will send me the voucher to get a refund from Babies r Us. In the meantime from what I’ve read online this takes weeks to a month or more for this process. The only problem with this I do not have the money to go drop $200 + dollars on a new crib at this time and I fell in love with this crib because of the sage green color. I also bought the matching changing table because it matched our nursery frog theme perfectly (Leap Froggie) and because of the price. I looked at Babies r us and they have no cribs in my price range for the voucher once I finally end up sending in everything they are making customers jump hoops for their vouchers and having no where for my son to sleep in the meantime.I will end up spending twice as much money and it will no longer be the crib I wanted to match my sons other furniture including we have a sage green Dresser.I would like my money BACK! I want to be refunded so I can purchase a crib elsewhere that fits into my budget, has the selection I want and the color.I don’t think it’s fair that I have to purchase a crib at babies r us I didn’t ask for this to happen to me it’s frustrating and I didn’t ask to end up having to spend more money, dismantle my sons crib jump hoops to get some type of voucher eventually have no where for my son to sleep and the stress and hassle of all of it.I rather get my money back and purchase a crib elsewhere right away!!!In my opinion this is another way for babies r us to make more money off of customers because they have no cribs under $200.00 and it angers me! Plus they do not have a very large selection and no colored cribs such as green, blue or pink etc.
I asked at Babies R Us and they told us we could only buy in store….of course and they only had very few cribs for under $350.00 and the crib we purchased was only $179.00 and most were completely sold out. So I will have to pick a crib I don’t exactly want. I want to go somewhere else so I can at least get what I really wanted and not had to deal with this whole mess and known my child is SAFE! I’m never buying furniture from Babies R Us again. Please GIVE ME The REFUND I so Desire!!! Thanks

I had no idea there was a recall on the crib… my son slept in it for a few months then we just put it in storage. We were planning to keep it but could we still return it and if so to whom and where?
