Mutsy USA Recalls EVO Strollers Due to Strangulation Hazard
Consumers should stop using this product unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Recall date: February 7, 2013

Name of product: EVO strollers
Hazard: The opening between the grab bar and seat bottom of the stroller can allow an infant’s body to pass through and become entrapped at the neck, posing a strangulation hazard to young children when a child is not harnessed.
Remedy: Consumers should stop using the strollers immediately and contact Mutsy USA to receive a free replacement seat unit and grab bar.

Units: About 340
Description: This recall includes EVO strollers manufactured between February 2012 (01.02.12) and November 2012 (30.11.12) with the following model numbers: MT12-03, MT12-11, MT12-14, MT12-31, MT12-34, MT12-37, MT12-39, MT12-42, MT12-43 and MT12-48. The model number and date code can be found underneath the stroller seat on a white sticker. The strollers have black or silver-colored metal frames with brown, navy blue, black, or white seats. “EVO” is printed on the lower back frame of the stroller.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Sold at: Juvenile product stores nationwide and websites including www.amazon.com between April 2012 and December 2012 for about $400.

On 2.14.13 – I contacted Mutsy’s customer service to inquire about the recall and to see what are they doing to remedy this situation. Here’s their answer below:
MY QUESTION NOW – WITH MUTSY’S ANSWER – WILL IT NOW DEEM SAFE TO BUY THE “MUTSY EVO STROLLER” AFTER THE RECALL? OR NOT?? I really need your input (esp. baby bargains, I will be a 1st time Mommy, and need to know if we can still trust this brand/ model) ..Thx

Hello Grace,
Thank you for your email. The EVO seat units that are being recalled are European versions that were accidently shipped to the USA, all seats are replaced and if you order an EVO this will be the ASTM version.

Yes, it should be safe to order that stroller now, given Mutsy’s response that they are no longer shipping the recalled units. To be sure, however, we’d double check the model info when you get it to make sure you don’t get a recalled unit.
