Reader Laura N. writes in today with her frustration regarding the Thomas the Tank Engine recall:
I have had it with RC2, the manufacturers of Thomas the
Train Wooden Railroad. I had 6 trains recalled and
sent them all in the end of June. I was told on the
telephone that it would take 6 to 8 weeks for me to
get the trains back. After 10 weeks, I called and
they said the trains would be shipped October 16th.
Today, I was at Target in Casselberry, Florida. They
are carrying the wooden train line now. And, what did
I see on the shelf, the wooden James train (which was
recalled). I guess RC2 feels it is more important to
fill the orders of the stores than it is to take care
of their current customers whose children were playing
with lead tained toys. When I went on-line to check
my order status, it said my trains won’t be shipped
until October 27th. I called the company and not only
are they incredibly unhelpful, they are rude. RC2 has
handled this recall horribly and I for one am no
longer buying anymore of their toys. I believe us
mothers need to ban together and show toy companies
that they need to take more care with the toys they
are selling.
I got mine this week. I sent the trains in about a week after the original recall.
