Best Fruit Snack Overall: Welch’s Fruit Snacks

We did a blind taste test with the most popular fruit snacks sold today and had our testers (kids, adults) pick their favorites. When the dust settled, Welch’s won the crown. Here’s why:

What We Liked

• Yummy! The mix of fruits (grape, peach, orange, strawberry, raspberry) was the biggest crowd pleaser. In fact, these things can be too tasty—folks said they can easily get addicted to these snacks!

• Good texture,

• Easy on the wallet.

What Needs Work

• Too sweet, said some testers. This was a minority opinion, however.

• Contains corn syrup.

• 11 grams of sugar per serving.

• Artificial colors.

• Not vegan, nor vegetarian.

• Contains coconut—so avoid if you have an allergy to this!

Best Budget-Friendly Fruit Snack: Mott’s Fruit Snacks

When it comes to fruit snacks, there is a split opinion: some folks like more tart snacks like Welch’s. Others prefer sweeter ones like Mott’s. Our testers with more of a sweet tooth thought Mott’s was best. Here’s more:

What We Liked

• No artificial colors or flavors. Yep, these snacks are sweetened by fruit juice concentrate.

• 100% of daily requirements of vitamin C.

• Very yummy!

• Affordable.

What Needs Work

• Corn syrup.

• Lots of sugar. Well, that’s how they get so sweet!

• Sticky.

Best Organic Fruit Snack: Annie’s Organic Bunny Fruit Snacks

These bunny shaped fruit snacks won the hearts of our testers when they tried these organic fruit snacks. Most yummy!

What We Liked

• Tasty! And yes, kids liked them too.

• Organic, gluten free.

• No artificial flavors. 

• No high fructose corn syrup.

• Vegan.

What Needs Work

• Texture is too firm? Some folks think these snacks can be a bit too sticky or firm. That was a minority opinion, however.

• 11 grams of sugar. Which is the same as our top, non-organic snack.

• Pricey.

Best Vegan Fruit Snack: YumEarth Organic Fruit Snacks

Our snack smackdown featured several organic snacks. While Annie’s came out on top, YumEarth was a close second. It’s our choice if you are looking for a vegan fruit snack.

What We Liked

• Very tasty!

• Vegan. There’s no gelatin in these snacks.

• No GMO’s.

• Organic, natural colors. 

What Needs Work

• Texture is a bit hard.

• 12 grams of sugar per serving. Yep, that is more (sugar per gram) than non-organic snacks like Welch’s have!
