We gathered local enthusiasts to help us find the best brands, doing a blind taste test of 10 different options.

Best Pumpkin Pie Taste: Paramount Roasters Coffee Pumpkin Pie

Yes, there are two camps of pumpkin spice coffee enthusiasts: one group that likes the spice part of pumpkin spice. That is, the cinnamon and nutmeg flavor notes.

The second group likes more pumpkin flavor in pumpkin spice coffee. For that group, we’d recommend Paramount Roasters Coffee Pumpkin Pie. It won our taste tests for those folks who prefer more pumpkin and less spice!

• Smooth taste.

What Needs Work

• Not enough pumpkin flavor for some of our tasters. That was a minority view, however.

• More availability year-round, please! Unfortunately, this coffee is only offered seasonally.

Best Budget-Friendly: Eight O’Clock Ground Coffee, Pumpkin Spice

Perhaps the worst thing about pumpkin spice coffee is its availability—some brands are only sold seasonally. And that can drive up the price.

But there is good news: we did find one brand of coffee that won over our taste testers . . . and is available year round. This makes it easier on the wallet. Here’s more:

What Needs Work

• Not enough spice for some. Yes, some folks like more spice in their coffee and others prefer more pumpkin taste. This coffee falls more into the second camp—and that turned off some of our testers who liked the spice!

Best Cinnamon & Nutmeg Taste: Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Flavored Ground Coffee

As we discussed earlier in this article, there are two groups of pumpkin spice coffee enthusiasts—the pumpkin crowd and the spice fans. For the latter, coffee with more cinnamon and nutmeg flavor notes wins their hearts. After a blind taste test, we thought the Starbucks Limited Edition’s ground coffee version was the best bet for those who prefer those flavors.

• Pricey.
